Correa has played all three Champions League games this term, contributing one goal and one assist so far.
The 26-year-old said he feels comfortable in his new role as a ‘second striker’ at Lazio and said he works hard every day to contribute.
“In recent years I have played more as a striker or second striker,” Correa said at a press conference. “I’m not an aerial player, but I’m someone who likes to be close to goal.
“I feel improved, I can still contribute. I work for this every day. My first target is Zenit, then my strength is to take one day at a time.”
The Argentine feels coach Simone Inzaghi’s men are united and is ‘not surprised’ to see Lazio, who are unbeaten in three Champions League games, match the best teams in Europe.
“Our union is our strength, the coach knows us beautifully,” Correa added. “We work hard every day to be protagonists.
“On the pitch, we are so many friends. It’s no surprise to see Lazio play at a very high level against strong teams.
“We have not played in the Champions League previously, that’s true, but we are ready to win tomorrow and continue in this competition.”
From COVID-19 to Luis Alberto’s comments about Lazio’s new plane, the controversies have piled up in recent weeks for the Aquile, but Correa said the players are only focused on the games.
“They are always there. Our strength is that we stay focused on the pitch. The coach always tells us not to think about what happens on the outside.
“My path with Lazio has been very good, we have also won some important trophies. There’s always something to improve, every day we can do it.
“The coach and my teammates help me a lot, I believe I have taken the right path."
