Joaquin Correa was inconsolable in floods of tears as he limped off during Inter’s Coppa Italia Round of 16 tie with Empoli this evening with an apparent hamstring strain.

The striker was in the starting XI and lasted only a couple of minutes when Simone Romagnoli clambered all over him.

Shouldering the full weight of the defender seemed to be too much for Correa’s hamstring, as he crumpled to the ground clutching the back of his left thigh.

Tellingly, Correa was immediately distraught, as he evidently felt something twinge or even snap in his thigh.

He was in tears as the medical staff and teammates tried to console the Argentina international.

Alexis Sanchez was called straight away to come in at the fifth minute.

The only positive news is that Correa was able to walk off unsupported, but he was still crying as he hobbled away.

Correa has four goals and one assist in 19 competitive appearances for Inter so far this season.

  1. No one likes to see players getting injured and hopefully he gets back soon, but it’s a fact that Inter have been very lucky with injuries this season and that always gives you a huge advantage when a competition is tight.

  2. crankie nothing unlucky about how Juventus plays when you have the dinosaur coach who likes 11 men behind the 18 yard box.

No surprise that when you have to counter attack, the ball has to be held up for 5 seconds and moved back to do the usual back, back, down, down, side to side routine.

  3. If the Dutch Phil Jones even tried to do that the ball would hit his arm first (he likes arm contact) and he would break his torso lol.

  4. The challenge was very weird but hopefully it’s not as serious as what Correa think because he was clearly very concerned the moment he went down. I don’t think inter have been lucky with injuries but rather don’t overplay players so they have less risk of injuries.
