Joaquin Correa fulfilled his childhood dream by joining Inter: ‘I didn’t want to go anywhere else.’

The Argentinean striker has joined the Nerazzurri from Lazio on an initial loan move with an obligation to buy for €30m.

He had been linked with several clubs over the summer, including Everton and Arsenal.

However, Correa snubbed a move to England, joining Inter instead.

The former Lazio man explained why he ‘only wanted’ to join the Nerazzurri in an interview with DAZN, as quoted by Calciomercato.com.

“As a child, I wanted to come here at all costs. It was too important to me,” the 27-year-old said.

Probable line-ups: Inter vs. Bologna

“When I was playing in Argentina, I heard about the interest from Inter, but I didn’t leave my club. It was beautiful [to join Inter] because I was a child who dreamed of playing here.”

Correa has reunited with his former Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi under whom he scored 30 goals in 117 appearances with the Biancocelesti between 2018 and 2021.

“It was so important [to reunite with Inzaghi]. Coming here to Inter was already a dream for me, then when I received his call, I had no doubt, I did not want to be anywhere else,” the striker revealed.

“I received a warm welcome, everybody made me feel at home and I’ve understood what Inter is. This jersey is heavy and too important.

“We aim to do the best in every competition, we have a great team. I won’t mention any title, but we want to win every game. It’s easier when you play with these players, I have fun, and I always receive great service.”

Correa, 27, has also played with Sampdoria in Serie A, scoring three goals in 31 appearances before completing a permanent €18m move to Sevilla.

After a two-year spell in Spain, Correa returned to Italy, signing for Lazio in a €15m deal.

The 27-year-old will make his debut as starter today in the Nerazzurri’s Serie A clash against Bologna.
