Atletico Madrid have announced that Angel Correa and Sime Vrsaljko tested positive for COVID-19 and are both in isolation without symptoms.
After having confirmed two cases of coronavirus, the club 'ended the speculation' and revealed the the identities of the players along with good news from today’s tests.
The Colchoneros said in a statement: “The first team and the members of the technical staff underwent new tests this morning, the result of which was negative for all after the two positive tests that emerged on Saturday.
“Following the health protocol, tests were also carried out on family members living with the two positive cases, which were also negative.
“The club’s medical services have given permission to reveal their identity and end the speculation.
“The first team will return to work this afternoon with training sessions that will not be attended by Angel Correa, who remains in isolation without symptoms, and Sime Vrsaljko, also asymptomatic.
“The doctors will supervise both players as required by the health protocol. For this, 21 players from the first team plus the members of the youth teams, Alex Dos Santos, Manu Sanchez, Riquelme and Toni Moya, will travel to Lisbon tomorrow to concentrate on the quarter-finals of the Champions League.”
Former Genoa, Sassuolo and Inter man Vrsaljko will therefore not play when Atletico Madrid face RB Leipzig on Thursday night.
