Coronavirus update: death roll rises to nearly 7,000

The total number of Coronavirus cases in Italy increased by 8% compared to yesterday, with the death toll also rising.

Italy has been the most affected country in Europe from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The latest figures show that the total number of cases in the country now totals 69,176. This is up by 5,249 compared to yesterday, an increase of 8.2%.

The death toll has also risen, with 743 deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the overall tally to 6,820.
