There were 437 deaths related to coronavirus in Italy over the last 24 hours, as positive cases, intensive care admissions and hospitalisations continue to drop.

Although there was a slight surge in yesterday’s registered deaths, it is back down to a post-peak level of 437 today.

Lombardy remains the epicentre, with 161 of those deaths occurring in the region.

The total death toll since the crisis began is now 25,085, including 144 healthcare professionals.

The good news is that the curve continues to flatten, as more people are leaving hospital than going in, a trend that has been developing for over a week now.

For the fourth day in the row, the total number of positive cases fell again, this time by 10 to 107,699.

This is because 2,943 people were given the all-clear since Tuesday, so 54,543 in Italy have contracted the virus and made a full recovery.

There are 23,805 patients hospitalised (-329 in 24 hours), of which 2,384 are in intensive care (-87).

Another 81,510 people are self-isolating at home with minor symptoms (+406).

The indications all point towards an easing of lockdown measures from May 4, including the ability for Serie A teams to train in small groups.
