Eugenio Corini has challenged his Brescia players to “show that we deserve to be in this League” ahead of their meeting with Lazio.

Brescia are currently 18th in Serie A after letting Parma grab an equaliser in stoppage-time before Christmas and the coach revealed he wants his players to “be angry”.

“We are stitching ourselves back up, facing teams that will fight us until the end,” Corini said at a press conference. “We won the individual battles, we needed them for our own self-esteem.

“We regret leaving two points behind at Parma, but we have the characteristics to take them back. We must always be angry, now we must show that we deserve to be in this League.”

Today, they face Lazio at the Mario Rigamonti and Corini admitted third-placed Lazio are on great form but claims Brescia are “well prepared” for the visit from the capital.

“It will be a complicated match. Lazio are expressing a high level of football,” he added. “They’ve won two cups during the last six months and they will be an opponent of great value.

“Luis Alberto and Lucas Leiva are two fundamental players, the alternatives are [Danilo] Cataldi and [Marco] Parolo. Maybe, if Inzaghi moves Correa inside, he could play with two physical attackers.

“We feel we are well prepared to play a great game. The work in Rome has allowed us to concentrate on all aspects. We played a friendly against a team from Serie D, then we resumed our technical and tactical preparations.

“No one was injured, we did what we had to do.”

Alfredo Donnarumma was replaced by goal scorer Mario Balotelli against Parma and Corini revealed the 29-year-old struggled with a niggle.

“He [Donnarumma] is an important player to me, always,” he said. “He had some physical problems, but he played a very good game against Parma. It’s a particular moment, he has my faith and that’s important.

“We didn’t want to force [Emanuele] Ndoj, but we will have him and Donnarumma back against Genoa.”
