Eugenio Corini expects a “healthy” Milan when Brescia could give Birkir Bjarnason his first start as they “try to get a result” on Friday.
The Icelandic midfielder came on after the break during the 2-2 draw with Cagliari and could be in line for his first game in the starting XI.
Corini admitted that it might be too early for new-boy Simon Skrabb, as he expects an “aggressive” Milan.
“Bjarnason is an option, you’ve already seen him on the pitch,” he said at a press conference. “We have been working on Skrabb, he hasn’t played an official game for a long time”.
“We demonstrated our toughness on Sunday, unfortunately we didn’t manage to win the game. Milan are healthy and has picked up great players.
“They are a very aggressive squad, when they arrive on the sides, they push you back a lot.
“We must continue on our path, try to get a result”.
“We were more incisive against Cagliari,” he added. “I knew that the match would only guarantee me one hour of play. We played well, but we didn’t manage to win.
Corini insisted that the new Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic “can be uncontrollable” but also points at everything he “creates” for his teammates.
“He has shown his value, which is extraordinary,” Corini said. “Sometimes he can be uncontrollable. Regardless of him, we must consider what he manages to create around himself”.
The Brescia coach said he could change from the 4-3-3 against Cagliari to a 3-5-2 formation against the Rossoneri.
“We started with the 3-5-2 at the start of my reign, it’s a solution,” he said. “With a few more midfielders I can raise the quality. It will depend on reading I will do and what I will make of the match”.
Ernesto Torregrossa scored a brace against Cagliari and Corini has revealed he helped lift the forward’s spirits.
“He was a bit low on morale,” he claimed. “I always tried to make him push. Now he has matured to the idea of playing in Serie A. When you are a newcomer, everything comes at a cost”.
And Corini has hopes of bringing in some more new faces during January.
“There’s clarity with the President [Massimo Cellino]. If we maange to get players who improve the squad, it will be fine”.
