Ante Coric “didn’t have even a moment’s hesitation” when Roma made an offer and is eager to learn defensive skills from Daniele De Rossi.
The 21-year-old Croatia international was signed from Dinamo Zagreb for €6m plus bonuses and 10 per cent of a future sale.
“It is a real pleasure and honour for me to train with players of the calibre of De Rossi and the rest of the squad. I can’t wait to get started this season,” said Coric in his presentation press conference.

“De Rossi is the captain, so I can learn so much from him both in terms of football and character. My role is that of attacking midfielder, but I know that I have to improve my defensive movements.
“Comparisons with Luka Modric are flattering, as he is the best Croatian player. We do have a similar style, but I have so much more to prove and a lot of work to be done in order to get close to his level.
“I chose Roma because the moment they told me of their interest, my response was: ‘Wow.’ Roma are a huge club. I didn’t have even a moment’s hesitation.”
Coric confirmed he had “an interesting chat” with Coach Eusebio Di Francesco ahead of their first training session.
