New Inter team manager Ivan Cordoba has explained his new role at the club and reflected that he still feels like one of the players.

The 35-year-old Colombian retired from playing last season after 19 years as a senior professional and 13 of those spent with the Nerazzurri.

Cordoba has stayed on with the club in a new position as team manager, and from the team’s pre-season training base at Pinzolo, reflected on how he is adapting.

Cordoba has stayed on with the club in a new position as team manager, and from the team’s pre-season training base at Pinzolo, reflected on how he is adapting.

“I'm enjoying because it's a new adventure. The lads mustn't see me as a director – they joke around and take the mickey, but always respectfully,” revealed the former No 2.

“I still feel like their teammate. I just want to be someone the players can look to off the pitch. They need to know that we're one big team and the club is right beside them.

“If I'm here, it's because [new Coach Andrea] Stramaccioni specifically asked for me to be here and I'm grateful to him for the faith he's shown me in these first few days. He's a very forthright person. He knows perfectly well how things stand and what needs to be done.”
