Inter veteran Ivan Cordoba is hoping to be given a contract extension by the Italian giants.

The 35-year-old is only tied to the Nerazzurri until June 2012 and it is unclear whether the outfit will offer him new terms.

“I do hope to remain for next year,” the Colombian centre-back told Sky Sport Italia. “I want to continue playing for Inter, but let’s see what happens.”

Cordoba’s chances of playing more regularly for the club seemed to increase in the summer after the appointment of Gian Piero Gasperini.

The latter arrived with his 3-4-3 philosophy which requires three centre-backs instead of two, but he was sacked last month after some poor results.

“I think the Coach did everything that he could to get us to win,” the South American added. “Unfortunately that didn’t happen, but we gave our all as players to help him.”
