Lazio midfielder Matias Vecino has been left out of Lazio’s squad for tonight’s Coppa Italia game against Genoa for disciplinary reasons.

Vecino won’t be available when Lazio host Genoa at the Stadio Olimpico tonight, in a Coppa Italia Round of 16 clash.

The Biancocelesti have revealed in an official statement that the 32-year-old has not been included in the squad for disciplinary reasons.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Vecino ‘lacked respect’ and had a bad attitude during training sessions so President Claudio Lotito and Director Angelo Fabiani agreed with coach Maurizio Sarri that the midfielder would not be involved against Genoa.

As per La Gazzetta dello Sport, however, Vecino argued with Sarri on Sunday morning, so the Italian tactician decided to omit the experienced midfielder from the squad.

According to the report, Sarri’s decision was accepted by Vecino.

Sarri is expected to rotate his squad against Genoa tonight, starting Elseid Hysaj and Luca Pellegrini in defence, Daichi Kamada and Danilo Cataldi in central midfield and Valentin ‘Taty’ Castellanos up front with Ciro Immobile initially on the bench.
