The first round of the Coppa Italia is now complete, as Torino squeezed past Feralpisalo 2-1 and Spezia eventually eliminated Venezia in a penalty shoot-out.

The Granata had an early shock when Feralpisalo took the lead with Davide Di Molfetta meeting the Simone Guerra cross, but four minutes later they were able to equalise thanks to Mergim Vojvoda firing in the Nemanja Radonjic assist.

Nikola Vlasic was unlucky to see his header thump the crossbar, while Toro tested the opposition goalkeeper several times, including Perr Schuurs and Samuele Ricci.

Torino finally snatched victory late on and avoided extra time when Ivan Ilic smashed his finish into the roof of the net from distance, setting up a clash with Frosinone.

There was extra time when Spezia and Venezia played out a 2-2 thriller after 90 minutes.

The hosts twice took the lead, through a Mirko Antonucci strike and Luca Moro penalty awarded for the Magnus Andersen handling offence.

Venezia kept coming back with Joel Pohjanpalo and a Christian Gytkjaer spot-kick, again for handball by Kelvin Amian.

Raimonds Krollis probably should’ve won it for Spezia with a header from point-blank range that was off target.

It had to be decided on penalties, with Pohjanpalo and Francesco Esposito efforts saved before Francesco Zampano blasted the final spot-kick over the bar, sending Spezia through to face Sassuolo.

This completes the first round and the second will be played in November.
