The Coppa Italia enters the Round of 16 this evening, starting with Lazio vs. Genoa, followed by fixtures including Fiorentina-Parma, Napoli-Frosinone, Inter–Bologna, Milan–Cagliari and Juventus–Salernitana.
The tournament started with Serie B and C sides in August and from this point the ‘top’ Serie A clubs also enter the fray.
These are single-match knockout ties, to be decided on the night after 90 minutes, or extra time and penalties if needed.
It is drawn up in a tennis tournament format, so they already know who awaits them in the quarter-finals, to be played in January.
We could see a Rome Derby in the quarter-finals and a Derby della Madonnina in the semi-finals.
