The preliminary round of the Coppa Italia has been drawn up, with Serie C sides battling to join the tournament proper.

There was controversy when the reforms for the 2021-22 season saw the Coppa Italia cut to represent only Serie A and Serie B sides.

As a small compromise, it was decided there would be a preliminary round, creating spaces for four Serie C/Lega Pro clubs to qualify.

Como-Catanzaro will be played on Saturday August 7, while Ternana-Avellino, Perugia-Sudtirol and Padova-Alessandria will be on Sunday August 8.

The entire competition, save for the semi-final, will be one-off knockout games.
