Parma shocked Serie A side Salernitana 2-0 to end their Coppa Italia straight away, while Monza played a five-goal thriller with Frosinone.

Salernitana are the latest Serie A side to be eliminated in the first round of the Coppa Italia, as they were soundly beaten at home by Serie B outfit Parma.

Both sides had numerous chances, including Simone Romagnoli thumping the crossbar, before the breakthrough from Drissa Camara, scoring on the rebound from a parried Adrian Bernabรฉ effort.

Valentin Mihaila made sure of the victory by pouncing on a Lorenzo Pirola error, then Leandro Chichizolaโ€™s acrobatic save kept out a Norbert Gyomber header.

Parma go through to face another Serie B side in the second round, as Bari caused an upset by eliminating Verona.

Monza recovered from a scare to reach the next stage, where they will play against Udinese, as Frosinone gave them a run for their money.

It had started so well, taking a 2-0 lead with spot-kicks converted by Mattia Valoti and Gianluca Caprari for fouls on Samuele Birindelli and Valoti.

However, Frosinone clawed them back with two goals in the space of four minutes, first Hamza Haoudiโ€™s strike deflected in off Andrea Ranocchia, then Ben Kone pouncing on an Andrea Barberis error.

It looked to be heading towards extra time until Monza hero Christian Gytkjaer stepped up again on Andrea Colpaniโ€™s lay-off.

Monza 3-2 Frosinone

Valoti pen 25 (M), Caprari pen 43 (M), Haoudi 53 (F), Kone 56 (F), Gytkjaer 84 (M)

Salernitana 0-2 Parma
