Coppa Italia Liveblog: Juventus vs. Cagliari

Thiago Motta keeps Juventus options open for versatile stars

“We are happy with the victory and so many fans came here tonight, supporting us from the first to the last minute,” said Vlahovic on Canale 5.

“I am very pleased, because this is one of the biggest clubs in Europe with 60 million fans. I am sorry, as I said, over what happened on Saturday, but we must continue together, united, which is the most important thing.”

Can this Juventus bridge the gap in Serie A?

“Of course every victory gives us confidence, but we’ve got to take it one game at a time.”

Well, they really turned on the style!

Into 2 minutes of stoppages and Di Gregorio keeps the clean sheet intact with a good save on the Prati strike! It was a well-worked move, but he also blasted it straight at the goalkeeper!

OOOOOOH!

Now that is the goal of the game! Nico Gonzalez starts the run from inside his own half, surges forward with a sprint as Cagliari players chase him down and then mid-sprint manages a LOB from the edge of the area into the net!

Juve corner cleared, Piccoli fires over and is offside anyway.

Adzic free kick hits the wall and goes for a Juve corner.

Weah and Adzic on, Conceicao and Vlahovic off.

Deiola off for Adopo in the Cagliari side.

He’s been trying that repeatedly this evening and it finally pays off, Conceicao cuts inside Palomino down the right and bends a finish into the far bottom corner with his left foot!

Cagliari defender Deiola caught napping in the final third, Vlahovic pounces and goes alone towards Scuffet, but in going around the goalkeeper, he narrows the angle too much and only hits the side-netting!

Piccoli with the glancing header on a cross from the left, but it’s well wide.

Vlahovic quick throw-in started the move, Conceicao curler was going wide and Vlahovic diving header to turn in at the back post, but he was offside.

Lapadula, Gaetano and Zappa off, Pavoletti, Piccoli and Azzi on for Cagliari.

Oh! Palomino risks an own goal, then on the resulting corner the Nico Gonzalez header is INCHES wide of the far post! Took a nick off Lapadula.

Conceicao strike charged down from the edge of the area, by Vlahovic…

Kenan Yildiz makes way for Nico Gonzalez.

TEUN KOOPMEINERS MY WORD 😱

Vlahovic again on the Yildiz assist, but he pulls the finish wide.

Vlahovic squirms down the left and manages to pull it across the face of goal, but nobody is there to meet it. Conceicao then has a go, forcing an unorthodox Scuffet save at the near post.

Koopmeiners off, Gatti on, so Locatelli returns to his proper midfield role.

Also, Marin makes way for Cagliari’s Felici.

End to end stuff!

Lapadula header is off target, Cagliari then lose it in midfield, Conceicao gets down the right and flashes a ball across the face of goal just beyond Vlahovic sliding in at the back post!
