An early Dusan Vlahovic strike gave Juventus their 15th Coppa Italia trophy, as while Atalanta dominated possession, they never managed a shot on target.

These sides had already met in the 2021 Final, Juve emerging 2-1 winners, and La Dea had only ever won one trophy in their history, the 1963 Coppa Italia.

See how the game unfolded on the Liveblog.

Gianluca Scamacca and Manuel Locatelli were suspended, with Emil Holm and Sead Kolasinac injured, while Giorgio Scalvini was not at 100 per cent. Max Allegri brought in youth products Hans Nicolussi Caviglia and Samuel Iling-Junior.

It took under four minutes to break the deadlock, as Berat Djimsiti was sitting too deep and kept Dusan Vlahovic onside from an Andrea Cambiaso through ball, he held off Isak Hien and fired past the on-rushing Marco Carnesecchi.

Federico Gatti nodded a Nicolussi Caviglia corner over the bar, then Ademola Lookman and Mario Pasalic were blocked off with difficulty.

De Ketelaere shinned an effort off target from the edge of the area to waste a promising opportunity, as did Cambiaso on the counter-attack.

Gatti threw himself in the way of a Mario Pasalic strike inside the penalty area, but with so few attacking movements from Atalanta, El Bilal Toure was introduced at half-time.

Ademola Lookman’s strike was deflected just wide for a corner and Vlahovic had penalty appeals when going down under an Isak Hien nudge.

Koopmeiners nodded a Djimsiti cross just wide, though Juve were furious as Samuel Iling-Junior was down after a cross struck him in the face.

Gleison Bremer made a crucial block on Toure, but Juventus went on the counter from that corner kick and De Roon had to track back to help Carnesecchi deal with the Vlahovic attempted tap-in. However, the Dutchman went down in tears with a suspected knee ligament issue, perhaps realising he will miss the Europa League Final.

Weston McKennie charged down a Koopmeiners effort and Aleksei Miranchuk fired over on the half-volley from 12 yards.

Just as Atalanta were pinning Juventus back, the Bianconeri had the ball in the net on the counter-attack. It was another Cambiaso cross from the right and Rafael Toloi didn’t get his head to it, but Vlahovic did to glance into the far bottom corner. However, VAR showed Vlahovic was offside.

It kept Atalanta in the game and they nearly equalised on 80 minutes, as Lookman cut inside to drill onto the base of the near post from the edge of the area.

Juventus also rattled the frame of the goal, as Fabio Miretti hit a scorcher from a tricky angle to smash against the crossbar four minutes later.

Deep into stoppages, Mattia Perin did have to finally make a save on Ederson, but it wouldn’t have counted for Atalanta because there was a foul on Danilo. Nonetheless, that foul infuriated Max Allegri so much that he ripped off his jacket, then he was sent off for dissent, tore off his tie too and started to remove his shirt before finally storming off.
