Krzysztof Piatek had scored four times in his first Cuppa Italia appearance, and the Pole was soon given the chance to add to that tally.

The striker went to ground under what looked like minimal contact from Francesco Ardizzone, before finding the corner from 12 yards.

Icardi though he’d won it with a sliding finish in the 83rd minute, but three minutes later Davide Biraschi was bundled over in the box.

Piatek stepped up again, with the same run-up, and fired the ball into the same corner as his first penalty.

That took the game to extra-time, and it looked to have been decided with another spot kick, and this time there was no doubt about the award.

With 10 minutes of extra-time remaining, Goran Pandev was brought down by a clumsy challenge in the box from young defender Riccardo Baroni.

Gianluca Lapadula stepped up to take the penalty, and the former Milan striker made no mistake, smashing the ball high into the net with his left foot.

Entella weren’t done there though, and they snatched a dramatic equaliser in the 122nd minute thanks to Krisztián Adorján.

The Serie A side missed their first effort, Daniel Bessa blazing over after Dany Mota had scored for Entella.

However, Baroni also missed for the Serie C side and it went to sudden death.

Piatek scored again, as did everyone else until Lapadula failed to repeat what he’d done in extra-time, the Milan striker missing the crucial kick to condemn his side to a humiliating defeat.
