The 2024-25 Italian football season officially kicks off today with two Coppa Italia preliminary round ties.

The tournament starts at 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT) when Carrarese take on Catania, then Torres will face Mantova kicking off at 19.30 UK time (18.30 GMT).

It continues on Sunday August 4 with Cesena vs. Padova and Avellino vs. Juve Stabia, both evening matches.

These are the preliminary rounds and the winners go through to the first round proper, which begins on Friday August 9.

Serie A clubs enter the fray from here, such as Napoli, Udinese, Genoa, Monza, Verona, Empoli, Venezia, Parma, Como, Torino, Lecce and Cagliari.

The top Serie A sides only begin competing from the Round of 16, which is scheduled for December 4 and 18.

Once again, these are all one-off fixtures with only the semi-final played over two legs, while the Final is set for the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on May 14, 2025.

As for the 2024-25 Serie A campaign, that begins on August 17 with Genoa-Inter, Parma-Fiorentina, Empoli-Monza and Milan-Torino.
