Genoa had to come back from 2-1 down to beat Serie B side Ascoli in a 3-2 Coppa Italia thriller, setting up a clash with Torino.

The Fourth Round of the Coppa Italia is played this week and the Grifone found it very tough playing in practically an empty Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

Andrea Pinamonti had put the hosts in front on a Filip Jagiello assist, but it all turned around after the break with Giacomo Beretta on the counter-attack and Domenico Criscito accidentally deflecting an Alberto Gerbo cross past Jandrei for an own goal.

Criscito made up for it by getting the equaliser soon after, tapping in the Marko Pajac roll across the face of goal, then Pinamonti completed his brace at the back post on an Ivan Radovanovic knock-down.

Ascoli kept pushing to the end and only desperate defending denied them extra time.

Thiago Motta’s Genoa scrape through and will face Torino in the Round of 16.
