Andrea Conti has suffered a sprain on the knee which was operated on in September, but Milan assure there’s no cruciate ligament damage.

The full-back ruptured the ACL in his left knee earlier this season, but returned to the Rossoneri squad against Chievo.

The Italian international was forced out of training today though, prompting fears he could be set for another lengthy spell on the sidelines.

“AC Milan announces that during today’s training session, Andrea Conti reported a sprain to his left knee, the same one operated upon on September 16,” a statement on the Diavolo’s website confirmed.

“The scans and the specialist examination carried out by Professor Herbert Schoenhuber excluded any rupture of the reconstructed anterior cruciate ligament but also revealed a sprain to he lateral compartment of the knee, the severity of which will be evaluated in the coming days.”
