Antonio Conte is determined to change Tottenham Hotspur’s history made of ‘many ups and downs.’
The Italian tactician faced the media today ahead of Spurs’ Premier League clash against Everton on Monday night. Tottenham have lost four of their last six Premier League matches and were eliminated from the FA Cup by Middlesbrough earlier this week.
“My reaction was that I was disappointed. Frustrated for the result, for sure to have this up and down,” the coach said at a press conference, as quoted by Football London.
“I say this from my first day when I arrive. The Tottenham story is this, many ups and downs. To be competitive and to win something and to try to fight for something important. To be stable and avoid this up and down. To change this type of situation. Especially to change the story of this club for 20 years. For sure sometimes you have to be upset. Sometimes, it’s normal to be angry.”
Manchester United legend Roy Keane had warned the Italian tactician about Spurs’ identity and DNA saying that he was not surprised by their FA Cup elimination.
Italy captain Giorgio Chiellini had claimed something similar in 2018 after the Bianconeri eliminated the North Londoners from the Champions League thanks to a 2-1 win at Wembley Stadium.
Conte signed an 18-month contract with Tottenham in November. He has won eight of his 15 Premier League matches in charge of the North Londoners.
Conte: "A good game for us, in the right moment. The only positive thing now is that we have more days to prepare for the games. We know we are facing a good team with a new manager." https://t.co/b0mUDL7E8B
