Juventus have been eliminated in the Champions League group stage for the first time since 2013 when Roberto Mancini’s Galatasaray beat the Bianconeri coached by Antonio Conte.

Juventus were knocked out of Europe’s elite competition following a 4-3 loss against Benfica in Lisbon tonight.

It’s the first time Massimiliano Allegri doesn’t reach the Round of 16 in his coaching career.

The last time Juventus were eliminated in the Champions League group stage was in 2013-14 when the Bianconeri coached by Antonio Conte lost the final and decisive away game at Galatasaray.

At that time, Mancini was in charge of a Turkish side that could rely on the likes of Felipe Melo, Wesley Sneijder and Didier Drogba.

The game was supposed to be played on December 10, 2013, but it was suspended after 30 minutes due to heavy snow. The remaining 60 minutes were played the following day. A draw was enough for the Bianconeri to get their pass for the Round of 16, but Inter legend Sneijder scored in the last five minutes, sending Juventus to Europa League.

The Bianconeri eventually reached the semi-finals, with Benfica preventing them from playing the Final at the Allianz Stadium in Turin.
