Italy CT Antonio Conte points to Udinese as an example for the rest of Italy to follow, and reveals he’s tracking Simone Scuffet’s progress.

The Azzurri Coach paid a visit to the Zebrette’s training ground today, speaking with Udinese Coach Andrea Stramaccioni as well as club captain Antonio Di Natale.

“Udinese have a great business model,” Conte told the club’s official television channel.

“They’re an example for all of Italian football.

“The Pozzo family [which owns the club] are doing amazing things, and are helped by some very good staff.

“They’re doing great things and I can only congratulate them. Today I’ve seen a big facility, with everything needed to work in the best way possible.

“I spoke with Stramaccioni, a young Coach who – along with [Sinisa] Mihajlovic can do great things in the future.”

The former Juventus Coach also revealed that he has been following the progress of young goalkeepers Simone Scuffet [18] and Alex Meret [17], with a view to giving them an opportunity for the Azzurri one day.

“We are keeping an eye on Scuffet, as well as Meret. They are two great prospects who are conducting themselves well with the Italian youth teams.

“They are goalkeepers who already give you a sense of certainty and are the future of Italian football, not just for their club, but for the national team as well.”

At the opposite end of the scale, Conte also reserved praise for 37-year-old striker Antonio Di Natale, who scored his 200th Serie A goal at the weekend.

“When I spoke to Toto, I told him that if we were going to a tournament today I’d be knocking on his door,” Conte revealed.

“What he’s doing is amazing, I can only congratulate him and wish him all the best.”
