Italian sports reporters are confident Antonio Conte has no intention of joining Arsenal. ‘He’s smarter than to accept a team with that many problems.’

The coach is a free agent after terminating his Inter contract by mutual consent, but as part of that agreement he cannot coach another Italian club this season.

He would still be free for the Premier League, where he has already won with Chelsea, and has repeatedly been linked with the Arsenal job by British papers.

However, when Calciomercato.it interviewed two Italian sports pundits, they were both absolutely confident that replacing Mikel Arteta was not on Conte’s wish-list.

“He’s smarter than to accept a team with that many problems at this moment,” said Fabrizio Biasin.

“At most he could potentially consider it next season, but I doubt it.”

Massimiliano Maddaloni had a similar view of the situation and revealed Conte has been sending out signals, especially after the coach signed on to join Sky Sport Italia’s Champions League coverage as a pundit.

“Conte is telling everyone he wants a year out so he can then start again with an important project next year and Arsenal really do not fit the bill.”

  1. Coward……..Inter stick by him after 2 Champs League DISASTERS, and he leaves because 2 players get transferred in this economic environment…..he can be a good coach at times when his stubborrness doesn’t get in the way, but still a coward.

  2. Conte is SMART. A winning coach with results. Yes, Inter failed to advance out of the CL group stage last season. However, that can happen at times.

  3. With his desire to have many players like Vidal, Sanchez, Lukaku in Inter last season, it can confirm that he will not take a risk of accepting Arsenal job with only having Aubameyang in the team.
Arsenal this season may battle for avoiding relegation

  4. Vittorio! I agree, but it was 2 years in a row, not one, and he only won the league after he left Europe while the other contenders were still playing there, and, he finally decided to give Erickson and Perisic a chance, and Voila (spelling?) he runs away with the league…….damn good coach…not great….and still a coward, he owed Inter one more year for demanding and getting players with no Champs League success.
