Antonio Conte’s assistant manager Cristian Stellini described the ideal Napoli striker to replace Victor Osimhen and it all pointed towards Chelsea outcast Romelu Lukaku.

The coach met with fans and answered questions in an event during the pre-season training camp in Dimaro this evening.

Among the highlights was the moment someone asked Stellini to give a description of the characteristics they were looking for in their centre-forward this season.

“I would choose a striker with strong physical presence, very much like Victor,” said the former Tottenham Hotspur caretaker manager.

“He should have multiple different skills, with characteristics meaning he can both score goals and get the best out of his teammates in attack too.”

It is fairly safe to say that is a good summary of why Conte wanted Lukaku at Inter and is eager to reunite with the Belgium international again at Napoli.

Why Lukaku is waiting for Napoli

Chelsea are holding out for €35m, but it is believed they will eventually drop that price to around €25m, seeing as there are few other offers and he has his heart very much set on the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

In turn, Napoli cannot do anything until Osimhen has been sold, with Paris Saint-Germain the favourites to get a deal done for just over €100m.
