According to reports in Italy, Antonio Conte is likely to return to the Premier League in the summer, with Newcastle and Manchester United monitoring the Italian coach.

Conte left Inter at the end of 2020-21 after winning the first Serie A title in 11 years with the Nerazzurri.

The former Chelsea and Juventus coach has taken a sabbatical and is currently working as a Champions League pundit for Sky Sport Italia.

He is not planning to get a new job during the current campaign, but he is expected to return in 2022-23.

Alfredo Pedullà reports Conte’s most likely destination is the Premier League.

Conte to Newcastle: a crazy idea that makes sense

This is because there aren’t Serie A clubs that can match his expectations in terms of salary and investments for new signings.

Conte was in talks with Tottenham in the summer, but, according to the report, he decided against signing with Spurs as he wanted complete freedom in managing the team and transfers.

Newcastle and Manchester United are now looking at the Italian tactician.

However, in order to join the Magpies, Conte would request a salary in the region of £15-20m and at least three or four top signings.

The former midfielder has many admirers at Old Trafford even though there haven’t been direct contacts with the Red Devils or Newcastle.

5 thought on “Conte set for Premier League return amid Newcastle, Man Utd rumours”
  1. The coach is a clown. Wants unlimited resources , has failed in Europe every year. His a disciplinary, work ethic drill sergeant. Past that, he won’t do nothing tactically . Big games flops

  2. @blob.Conte took over qn abysmall juve, took tye crown ubeaten, then prolongued it 2 more times. Then went to the premier league rivaling klopp, mourinho and guardiola and claims the title in his very first attempt.then returns to italy bring back a leage title back to inter after a decade, ending juve cycle he started himself…
And you from behind your phone or laptop judge this man as a clown…ok then

  3. The blob is just upset that his beloved Juve suck. Conte might not have won anything in Europe but at least he had the guts to coach in more than one country.

  4. Conte should be regarded as of the best coaches in the world. Winning league titles with 3 different teams and in two different leagues, (plus taking a terrible Italy so far in Euro 2016) He never had success in Europe because he went all in for the league knowing consistency would win then getting lucky with limited talent. Then when he asks for more talent to compete he is attacked. Both landing destinations as a neutral intrigue me, but knowing him, I see him going to Newcastle. Too many egos at UTD who will not follow his work ethic demands.

  5. If Newcastle survive then he could take that job.

But if they get Relegated and he has to start with them next yeat in The Championship, then he won’t go there.
