Napoli are preparing to submit a second, improved bid for Brighton midfielder Billy Gilmour, but the Partenopei are also still keeping tabs on Frosinone defensive midfielder Marco Brescianini according to Wednesday’s updates.

Brighton CEO Paul Barber recently confirmed that the Seagulls had rejected an offer from Napoli for Gilmour, but admitted that he had not heard back from them in an interview earlier this week.

“We haven’t heard anything more from Napoli. We have turned down one offer from them. Billy has been an important player for us and we’re very keen to keep Billy. He’s a fantastic footballer and a great character around this squad,” Barber said.

Conte requests new Napoli bid for Gilmour

However, according to updates from transfer expert Matteo Moretto, Napoli are planning renewed talks with Brighton over the course of the next week at the request of coach Antonio Conte.

It is understood that the original offer was worth somewhere in the region of €9.5m.

Conte is already familiar with Gilmour’s attributes from their time working together at Chelsea between 2016 and 2018.

Napoli are also still considering a move for Frosinone defensive midfielder Brescianini. Moretto adds that the club’s pursuit of Gilmour will not have an impact on their interest in the Milan academy graduate.
