Ex-Juventus midfielder Giancarlo Marocchi feels Antonio Conte’s imminent appointment as the new Napoli coach will be a ‘problem’ for Inter and Juventus, while Thiago Motta and Cristiano Giuntoli must make an immediate key decision in Turin.

Juventus are on the verge of appointing Thiago Motta as their new coach for 2024-25 and Marocchi, an ex-Juventus and Bologna midfielder, believes the Brazil-born tactician will have a crucial decision to make upon his arrival.

“Giuntoli and Thiago have a key decision to make: change as many players as possible or not change much and see how this team performs with a new coach,” Marocchi told Tuttosport.

“We know that in the market, it is easier to buy and practically impossible to sell, and we also know that Giuntoli must satisfy the coach and the owners, so his task will be pretty hard.”

Multiple sources claim Motta will sign his contract with Juventus next week; while it may take longer for Conte and Napoli, the ex-Bianconeri boss is still expected to accept an offer from the Partenopei.

Is Conte’s return to Serie A bad news for Inter and Juventus?

“I think so, but it’s surely good news at the same time,” said Marocchi.

“We must be happy that he returns to Italy because he knows how to coach. His teams play well and always offer something interesting.”

During the same interview, Marocchi also discussed Luciano Spalletti’s call-ups for Euro 2024, saying that if he were the Azzurri coach, he would have called Napoli winger Matteo Politano.
