Antonio Conte poked fun at Pep Guardiola after the Manchester City coach expressed his regret that actress Julia Roberts chose to watch Manchester United instead of the Citizens.

The Spanish coach, known for his amusing statements in press conferences, noted his disappointment that Roberts decided to watch a Red Devils match in 2016 whilst visiting Manchester, instead of attending a Manchester City game. This came in the same press conference where he described himself as ‘a failure in the Champions League’.

When speaking to the media on Friday, Conte was told of Guardiola’s comments regarding the American actress, and he smiled with his snappy response, remembering a Chelsea win over Manchester United in 2017.

“I remember Julia Roberts came also when I was at Chelsea. She watched the game and I had the possibility to know her and get her to the dressing room. It’s good that an important person like Julia Roberts likes football, it’s important for football.”

Guardiola is still searching for his first Champions League victory with Manchester City, whilst Conte is seemingly preparing for a new adventure after a difficult season in North London with Tottenham, having been eliminated from the competition by Milan.
