Antonio Conte assures Andrea Pirlo’s injury is “nothing serious” but it’s “unthinkable” he could play tomorrow.
It was announced earlier today that the New York City midfielder would miss Italy’s clash with Azerbaijan, as he has suffered an adductor injury, but the CT assures the injury is not a bad one.
“During the warm-up match, Andrea went into a challenge with a teammate,” Conte explained to Sky.

“During the warm-up match, Andrea went into a challenge with a teammate,” Conte explained to Sky.
“He made an involuntary movement with his knee open, and immediately felt a twinge in his adductor. It’s nothing serious, but it was unthinkable to use him tomorrow.”
Lorenzo Insigne and Domenico Berardi have already pulled out of the Azzurri squad with injury, and Conte admits he’s disappointed not to have them available.
“It hurts me not to have Berardi and Insigne at my disposal, not being able to work with them and play them.
“The role of CT means I have to have confidence in the lads, and if they tell me they don’t feel good then I must take note, say I’m sorry and hope it goes better the next time.”
