Antonio Conte, Fabio Paratici and several former Italian players, including Ciro Ferrara and Angelo Peruzzi attended Gian Piero Ventrone’s funeral in Naples on Sunday.

The Tottenham fitness coach passed away on Thursday, aged 62, due to fulminant leukaemia. Spurs’ players paid tribute to the former Juventus fitness coach before and after Saturday’s away game against Brighton.

On Sunday, Conte, his staff members and Paratici travelled to Naples to attend Ventrone’s funeral.

Ventrone had worked with Conte as a player and as a coach. There were many other notable personalities of Italian football who had worked with him, including Fabrizio Ravanelli, Ciro Ferrara and Angelo Peruzzi.

Ex-Juventus director Luciano Moggi was also at the funeral. Conte brought a Tottenham shirt signed by all Spurs’ players and shared a social media post after the service: ‘Ciao Gian Piero, I will miss you.’

The Italian tactician admitted on Saturday that ‘nobody’ expected Ventrone’s rapid decline in health and praised his players for how they dealt with the last tragic days.
