"We want to perfect every aspect, but of course you will rarely see me satisfied. Now we have to work, because the tournament is imminent and I work hard on every situation.
"After the game I thanked all the players, because on Tuesday I have to give the definitive list and they all proved how much they care about the Azzurri jersey.
"I have to make painful choices, so I thank in advance those who will stay home, because they will have more than another chance in future and I have to leave some extraordinary men behind.
"I haven't told anyone anything yet. Tomorrow I will meet with Professor Enrico Castellacci and compare notes, then I will make my decisions in the calmest possible way."
Eder started despite being tipped for the chop, while Daniele De Rossi had to test his fitness levels.
"I probably fielded a few players to sort out my last doubts. It could well be I didn't field some tonight because I am already sure they are called up."
Graziano Pelle's strike was the only goal in the 1-0 friendly win in Malta.
"We tried to play our football, even if we weren't very precise. The fault was also with the pitch, as that was very unsatisfactory.
"We got some knock-downs wrong and didn't read certain situations properly. I repeat, the turf did influence the performance."
