Inter coach Antonio Conte has claimed the other Leagues have an advantage ahead of the knockout phase in the Europa League. ‘They’ve had more time to recover’.

Conte spoke after the 2-0 win against Napoli on Tuesday and underlined that the Beneamata must focus on their last match in Serie A against Atalanta on Saturday.

“This was the final game in a cycle of matches every three days and seeing the athletic response of the team must give us satisfaction,” Conte said after the 2-0 win over Napoli. “We played 14 games in no time and we have spent a lot of energy.

“We must end the championship well. I don’t know for how long the lads haven’t had a day off to be with their families.”

Inter prepare to face Getafe in the last 16 of the Europa League on August 5 and Conte has warned that the other European Leagues have an advantage ahead of the remaining knockout stages.

“We must prepare for a season finale in Europe knowing that the other has more time to recover,” Conte conceded. “Teams from other countries had more time to recover and face this mini-tournament with more energy.

“But we’re there and we must try to do our best.”
