Greenwood is not part of Manchester United’s plans and has already received a formal bid from Ligue 1 side Marseille.

However, resistance from the fans and even the mayor of Marseille has put the deal on hold, giving Napoli a chance to join the race.

According to Sky Sport, the Partenopei are so interested in the ex-Getafe loanee that they have even overtaken their Serie A rivals, Lazio, in the transfer race. The Biancocelesti confirmed their interest in the English winger only a few days ago.

Sky, however, insists that Napoli must sell Jesper Lindstrom before completing the transfer.

Napoli have started the pre-season with two new signings, Leonardo Spinazzola and Rafa Marin, while the third one, Alessandro Buongiorno, is having his medical in Rome today.
