Andrea Barzagli underlines that Antonio Conte gave Juventus a strong mentality and that Massimiliano Allegri has improved the tactical side of their game.

Conte exited the Old Lady last summer to take charge of the Italian national team and his surprise replacement Allegri has impressed during his first campaign in Turin.

Centre-back Barzagli has been with Juventus since 2011, working under both Coaches during that time.

“Allegri has taken responsibility for us a lot more than before,” Barzagli told La Stampa.

“Conte was often our motivator but Allegri has worked on tactics and management and what has materialised is this team.

“We have definitely grown as a squad, because in our first season we weren’t the strongest team, but we won – it was then that Conte gave us a strong mentality.

“This Juventus cannot be worse than the great teams of the past. If you are strong, the results will do the talking.”
