Antonio Conte gre frustrated with constant questions about Napoli’s business in the transfer market during his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon, particularly with queries relating to the team’s centre-forward situation.

Napoli have not fielded star striker Victor Osimhen since the final game of the 2023-24 season, as he looks for a move away from the club.

Meanwhile, the Partenopei have been courting Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku for most of the summer, but are still yet to reach an agreement over a price with the West Londoners.

At his pre-match press conference ahead of Napoli’s visit from Bologna in Serie A this weekend, the first question that Conte faced was on the topic of Napoli’s search for a new striker.

Conte frustrated by questions on Napoli’s centre-forwards

Conte was asked if he ‘expected’ the ‘current situation’ surrounding the squad and particularly the centre-forward controversy when he first joined Napoli.

He replied by saying he would not take any further questions on Napoli’s transfer business, as he had already given a press conference after the team’s 3-0 loss to Verona where nobody asked him about the game, but instead only focussed on the transfer-related questions.

“Let’s get straight to the point. Last week we had a press conference where we only spoke about the transfer market. I received zero questions about Verona, maybe one, but we didn’t talk about football and what happened,” Conte said, reported via TMW

“I want to talk about Bologna. As you know, it’s a big match, you know what they did last year. Let’s put all our focus on the game, it’s more important to me.”

Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna is currently in London to hold meetings with various clubs and representatives.

He is also due to speak with Chelsea again in an attempt to strike a deal with Romelu Lukaku, who is still valued in the region of €40m by his current employers.
