Antonio Conte insists he is happy at Tottenham and sees no issues in his latest interview with Sky Sport Italia although Spurs may not allow him to talk to Italian media in the future.

Conte discussed Spurs activity in the January transfer window in an interview with Sky Sport Italia. He highlighted that they had lost four important players, signing Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski who are ‘good prospects’ but are ‘not ready yet.’

“It is inevitable that if you want to grow quicker and if you want to be competitive more rapidly, you need players with a lot of experience, because they also raise the experience level of the overall team,” the Italian tactician said.

Conte: ‘Tottenham weakened squad, I realise now this is the club’s vision’

The former Inter and Juventus tactician faced English media again today on the eve of tomorrow’s Premier League clash against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. He was asked to clarify his thoughts after the interview with Sky Sport.

“During the interview after the transfer market, they asked me about the club and if I’m happy. I said the club did the best can do,” Conte said, as quoted by Football London.

“We lost four players, important players for Tottenham. These players we sent away on loan cost a lot of money.

“Numerically you could be a bit weaker. Then I said with Kulusevski and Bentancur we are more complete. I don’t understand why someone wants to create a problem between me…and also in the past.

“A lot of stories between the chairman and the club. He knows my thoughts. It’s not important for me to go to the media. I can speak to him.

Former Tottenham coach Harry Redknapp had claimed earlier this week that the Italian tactician could have left Spurs at the end of the season because of the club’s transfer activity.

“I do get the feeling with him that he’s not going to stick around if he sees this is not going to go well,” Redknapp told Talk Sport.

However, Conte insists that he is happy at Tottenham: “I always say that I’m enjoying my time at Tottenham and the players. I’m always saying this. I repeat,” he insisted.

However, his last interview with Sky Sport Italia could be the last one with Italian media for a while.

“I don’t understand why someone wants to create a problem with me. Not only me but in the past. I read stories in the past about this club and it creates a problem with the coach and the chairman,” Conte said.

“The chairman knows very well my thoughts. If I have to speak with him, I go to speak with him. Sorry but I was a bit disturbed by this situation, especially because I had an interview with the Italian media. It means the club now doesn’t want me to speak to Italian media because the translation was not so clear with my thoughts.”
