Antonio Conte says that he is ‘honoured’ to have made FIFA’s shortlist for the 2014 Coach of the Year award.

The former Juventus and current Italy Coach was confirmed this morning as one of the 10 tacticians nominated for the annual award, which recognises the best in the world over the past 12 months.

“I am honoured to be included as one of those nominated for the 2014 Coach of the Year award,” Conte has commented in a statement released through the Italian Football Federation’s website.

“Because it represents on the one hand a recognition for the work, but on the other hand a further incentive to do well at the helm of the national team.

“My candidacy and also that of Carlo Ancelotti also confirms the value of the coaching school at Coverciano, demonstrating that our football is still alive and is able to convey innovative ideas and win.”
