Antonio Conte had an important meeting with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy and sporting director Fabio Paratici on Monday.

The focus of the meeting was the Italian coach’s evaluations of the current squad and what areas need improving in the transfer market. An initial meeting was held between the two parties last month but another talk was scheduled after the former Inter coach asked for more time to make his evaluations.

Speaking to gathered reporters in a press conference today, Conte confirmed that the meeting was positive for all parties and noted that the final decisions regarding transfer moves now lay with the club.

Both parties agreed that Tottenham need to sign a new striker, right wing-back and a left sided centre back. The Italian coach also reiterated the need for a new central midfielder, unhappy with Tanguy Ndombele; the Frenchman has recently been approached by Roma coach Jose Mourinho over a possible move.

Candidates to fill Tottenham’s roles include Wolves’ Adama Traore, Milan’s Frank Kessie and Manchester United’s Jessie Lingard. Conte does appreciate the difficulty of investing in the January transfer window but still hopes for at least some reinforcements.

  1. Funny how much Ndombele was linked with Inter when Conte was the coach. And now he doesn’t want him.
Conte abandoned Inter’s project for a far superior Spurs side. Good luck making stingy spend on transfers. Enjoy playing in Europa League

  2. Conte already laying the ground for the walk away when the club doesn’t spend 200m this summer.

  3. I agree with all the readers’ annoyance at Football Italia writing about Conte and Spurs all the time… But, in the back of my mind, I also think of how Juventus stupidly let him go… Allegri just rode his coat tails. Conte won the league with a nothing team. He is one of serie A’s greats, so continuously mentioning him is a reminder of what serie A has lost by him leaving, and the dismal level of coaches which exist in serie A at the moment. All these low level coaches get hyped up, but end up doing/winning nothing (De Zerbi, Italiano, etc). Where do Klopp, Guardiola, Ancelotti coach…..? Definitely not serie A……
