Juventus boss Antonio Conte was satisfied with last night's 1-0 win over Club America in New York.

Having started their USA tour with a defeat to Sporting Lisbon, the Old Lady beat their Mexican opponents thanks to a first-half goal from Cristian Pasquato.

"The important thing is that the side starts to play football and begins to gain confidence in its ability," stated Conte.

"I already had some responses against Sporting Lisbon, seeing as we are in a phase of preparation and construction.

"We're taking part in important tests. Sporting have to appear in the preliminary stages of the Champions League, while Club America have already started their championship…

"At this stage, we were perhaps unprepared to take on these kind of opponents, but these matches can help tell us where we will get to."

Conte lined up with his trademark 4-4-2, but Claudio Marchisio was used in the centre of midfield rather than on the wing.

"Circumstances saw him used out wide against Sporting because I didn't have any other options, but I certainly prefer to use him in the middle," Conte added. "That is his role."
