Antonio Conte has decided to pull out of Tottenham’s press conference ahead of their FA Cup fixture against Portsmouth after receiving the news of Gianluca Vialli’s death.

Vialli and Conte were close friends as well as former teammates, as they were both part of the Juventus side that won a Scudetto and a Champions League title, as well as a Coppa Italia, UEFA Cup, UEFA Supercup and Italian Supercup, between 1992 and 1996.

Conte was expected to talk to the media on Friday afternoon, but the devastating news has seen him give up on his press conference duties to have a proper time to mourn his friend, as he’ll be replaced by assistant coach Cristian Stellini.

Conte’s Tottenham were back on track as they picked up a convincing 4-0 win at Crystal Palace in their last Premier League game, immediately bouncing back after falling to a 2-0 home defeat at the hands of Aston Villa, which had cost the former Inter coach a fair share of criticism.
