Antonio Conte has called Sampdoria and Genoa two examples to follow in Serie A, as he expresses delight in accepting Sinisa Mihajlovic’s invitation.

Italy’s manager continued his tour of Serie A training ground today in visiting Sampdoria at Bogliasco in the morning, before heading on to Genoa at Pegli for the afternoon.

The visit to the Blucerchiati’s headquarters comes after Coach Mihajlovic’s recent complaint that the CT has ignored his players.

“We are friends with Sinisa and we were happy about his invitation here,” Conte told media after the training session in Bogliasco today.

“The fact that many invite us means that they are happy with us spending some time with them.

“Sampdoria are doing well, I am happy for them, they have interesting players that we are studying.

“I will then visit Genoa and then there will be eight more teams to go.

“Generally speaking, I think that both Genoa and Sampdoria are becoming increasingly important clubs for our League.

“And if we take into account the fact that they are investing in youngsters, I think that they are destined to do well and develop. And that’s really important for Italian football.”

To support the city of Genoa’s recovery from recent floods, the upcoming Italy friendly with Albania will be played at Marassi.

“We expect many people in attendance that day – we must stay close to this people who in the past have already shown that they have the strength to pick themselves up.”
