The Lega Serie A decided yesterday that it would organise a training retreat from February 9 to 11, but crucially that clubs involved in European competition could opt out.

That means Juventus, Roma, Inter, Fiorentina, Napoli and Torino can all forbid their players from attending.

Today’s papers claim Conte is “furious” at the snub, which only confirmed his complaint at a lack of co-operation from Serie A clubs.

The Corriere dello Sport insists he’s so angry that he could well call off the get-together completely, considering it “pointless” without star players.

There is also another problem, as Conte requested the 2015-16 Serie A season conclude by May 16 to allow more preparation time for the European Championship.

However, the Lega Serie A currently seems intent on ending it on May 22.
