Reports suggest that Napoli’s repeated insistence of coach Antonio Conte could pay off at the end of the season.

The Partenopei were clear when they decided to appoint Walter Mazzarri in November that he was simply a caretaker coach until the summer, giving president Aurelio De Laurentiis time to find an adequate replacement following the Rudi Garcia misstep.

De Laurentiis tried to make a move for Conte earlier this season, but the experienced Italian coach made it clear that he wasn’t interested in taking over in the middle of the campaign, preferring to have a pre-season to work with.

Page 19 of today’s Tuttosport details how De Laurentiis has continued to insist on Conte, maintaining contact with the former Juventus and Italy coach, and his work could pay off for Napoli in the summer.

The 54-year-old, who has been out of work since leaving Tottenham last year, could also be tempted by the project on offer, with De Laurentiis willing to invest in the transfer market.
