Antonio Conte had considered bringing Cristiano Ronaldo to Tottenham Hotspur last year, claim reports, as Fabio Paratici was key to his Juventus transfer.

According to The Daily Mail, Conte and chairman Daniel Levy had discussed the possibility of swooping for CR7 in 2022, when the striker’s rapport with new Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag had deteriorated.

He was desperate to join a Champions League squad and Spurs were in the group phase.

Considering it was Paratici who helped engineer Ronaldo’s move from Real Madrid to Juventus in 2018, the Tottenham director would’ve been in an ideal position to make contact.

However, ultimately both Conte and Levy decided it was not in the best interests of Spurs to have Ronaldo in their team.

Cristiano Ronaldo eventually terminated his contract by mutual consent and joined Al-Nassr FC in January.

Conte made a similar split by mutual consent with Tottenham last week, while Paratici has now taken a leave of absence pending the appeal against his ban inflicted based on his work at Juventus.
