Conte and Tottenham raid Inter for Bastoni

Antonio Conte is reportedly asking Tottenham Hotspur to raid his old club Inter for centre-back Alessandro Bastoni, who might be available if Stefan de Vrij extends his contract.

The coach spent two seasons at San Siro, winning the Serie A title and reaching the Europa League Final before walking away due to disagreements over transfer strategy.

That was because Inter were in serious financial difficulty and needed to sell stars like Achraf Hakimi and Romelu Lukaku.

According to Calciomercato.com, Conte is now looking to the Nerazzurri for defensive reinforcements.

The first choice would be Bastoni, who Conte helped transform into a Leonardo Bonucci-style very deep-lying play-maker.

The Italy international turns 23 this week and only recently extended his contract to June 2024.

The initial idea was for Inter to sell De Vrij, but the same source maintains there have been no concrete offers for the Dutchman.

Instead, Inter could sell Bastoni at a profit and extended De Vrij’s contract.

A product of the Atalanta youth academy, Inter paid €31.1m for Bastoni in 2017 and sent him out on loan to Atalanta and Parma before he became a key player for them in 2019.

  1. If Inter sell Bastoni I will rip up my Inter shirt (well I don’t have an Inter shirt, but if I did….). Why not sell Barella while your at it. After all, INTERnational means the less Italians the better. Ridiculous.

  2. Yes inter. Go ahead and sell Bastoni. I am sure there are a few epl rejects that you could find. Phil Jones, comes to mind. Or maybe inter can convince Rio Ferdinand, or vidic to come out of retirement. It would be consistent with serie a policies.. Moron management

  3. Bogus article. Management already guaranteed Inzaghi that Bastoni, Barella, Brozovic and Skriniar will not be sold for any price. Both club and manager consider them vital to the project. Would take a world record fee imo for Bastoni to go.

  4. Good deals with the very rich PL clubs: see Romelu Lukaku’s move
    Manchester Utd> Inter> Chelsea.
But the players considered unsaleable by Inzaghi and Marotta and who will not leave Milan during next summer, are four:
Marcelo Brozovic, Nicolò Barella, Alessando Bastoni e Milan Skriniar.
    Sorry Conte/Paratici. No way.

  5. Sadly Inter are no longer managed by morons like in the past where stupid directors would allow this kind of transfer to occur. De Vrij will leave then Inter will get Bremer and Bastoni was never going to go anywhere just like Skriniar or Barella.
