Antonio Conte’s terrible Champions League record is back under the spotlight after Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-0 defeat to Sporting CP.

They had already struggled in their opening game, only narrowly beating Olympique Marseille with the French side down to 10 men.

This evening they held on until the 89th minute, then conceded a Paulinho header and Arthur Gomes strike.

Conte famously has a dreadful personal record in the Champions League, managing 13 wins, 11 draws and 12 defeats in his career.

He only twice managed to get past the group phase, reaching the Quarter-Final at Juventus in 2013 and Round of 16 with Chelsea in 2018.

In this case, he is not helped by the fact Tottenham have an even worse track record in Europe, losing four of their last five Champions League games.

  1. Wow, I know Conte is poor in CL but didn’t know that his stats were that bad for a top coach (13-11-12).

  2. Deluded fans. Those 2 UCL finals are like a badge of honour. I guess its a good memory considering the debacle last Sunday.
