Reports in Spain claim Antonio Conte and Andrea Pirlo are both on Barcelona’s shortlist to replace Ronald Koeman after the 1-1 draw with Granada on Monday.

Barcelona have started the season with eight points in four La Liga games but RAC1 reports Koeman will be in place for the mid-week clash with Cadiz on Thursday.

But reports in Spain claim the Dutchman is under growing pressure and Blaugrana legend Xavi has been linked with the job at his former club.

The Spanish papers claim former Juventus coach Pirlo and previous Inter tactician Conte are also on the list of possible alternatives, as Mundo Deportivo reveals Barcelona are not looking for a temporary solution, should the club decide to sack Koeman.

Barcelona are reportedly studying a possible long-term appointment to ‘direct the sporting project’.

Pirlo was sacked by Juventus after winning the Supercoppa Italiana and the Coppa Italia last term, while Conte left Inter after winning the Scudetto in 2020-21 and reaching the Europa League Final in 2019-20.

  1. Pirlo, OK though he is not Barca material yet. But Conte! Hell no the Barca tradition to accept such a lifeless footballing coach.

If Barca opt for Conte to make them play his ugliest football, …

  2. Pirlo was the right person for Juventus. Alas! They didn’t give him a chance for another year. Andrea Agnelli ruined Juventus himself. By his Hubris.

  3. Pirlo suits well to Barça footballing philosophy and a long time solution to any serious minded football club while Conte is a direct opposite.

  4. LOL@ the first two comments. Completely opposite reactions. I don’t think either of these managers suit Barcelona’s style or need right now. The club needs either a manager who will instill fighting spirit and/or get them to play a progressive style of football. My shortlist would be: Gennaro Gattuso, Rudi Garcia, Andre Villas-Boas, or Paulo Fonseca. Garcia in particular is interesting because his teams play attacking 4-3-3 and he’s had good campaigns with mediocre squads. I think given the talent available at Barca (not insignificant, despite all the bad news) I think he’d be effective. Villas-Boas plays the same formation and has had success (albeit in smaller leagues) and has also had the experience of coaching big clubs to respectable positions (Chelsea and Tottenham).

  5. Barcelona should do everything in their power to get Lord Allegri, genius and scholar of the zombie sleep football so that they can play even worse then what they are now.

  6. What has done Pirlo to go to Barcelona? He was unfairly and stupidly hired to guide Juventus and we already know how that went…
Conte would be a great addition however he demands big at the transfer windows and I am not sure how much he would want to earn there…
